"this is a perfect last step! it glides on smooth and has a pleasant scent. only a pea size amount will get the job done. just make sure to follow the directions and wait for it to completely absorb. Philosophy Purity with my clarisonic Mia twice a day, Philosophy Microdelivery Wash every other day in the morning shower after Purity/Mia, Philosophy Hope in a Jar as my moisturizer twice a day, the present=great skin. I had very oily skin with bad acne a month ago. Today I don't have a single active pimple on my face!!"

"This is one product I absolutely love! I do not wear face powder, liquid makeup or blush and thanks to philosophy have make-up optional skin for the most part. When I received this as a gwp and read the description I tried it out! WOW is it great! IT goes on after my serums and moisturizers and makes my skin feel absolutely flawless and smooth as glass! I would have never tried this as it is described as "clear makeup". I should have read the uses sooner. I especially like that it seals in your serums and moisturizers. I use it in the am after putting on my eye makeup and moisturizers then at night after putting on my serums and moisturizers. Absolutely wonderful product."

"I HAVE LOVED ALL OF THE PHILOSOPHY PRODUCTS I HAVE PURCHASED OVER THE YEARS, BUT NOT THIS ONE. This product actually made me look older, dried out my skin, AND CLOGGED UP MY PORES. AND, I AGREE WITH THOSE REVIEWS SAYING IT BALLS UP ON YOUR SKIN. IT BALLED UP REALLY BADLY AROUND MY MOUTH AND CHEEKS. I FELT VERY SELF-CONSCIOUS ALL DAY THE DAY I WORE IT, AS I LOOKED AWFUL! "After reading the reviews on this product, i was a little hesitate about purchasing it. well i decided to give it try and I can't believe how wonderful my skin looks! it has never looked this flawless! my guess is that this product works depending on your skin type... but you won't know if it works unless you try it! for me it does everything it says it would!!! maybe i just don't get it

"i wanted to try this product for a long time because i'm not a big makeup wearer. i finally found it in a kit at nordstrom rack at a discounted price that i was willing to pay. boy, i'm sure glad i didn't pay full price for this stuff. i just don't get it. i am lucky in that i have pretty good skin and don't have things i'm trying to "hide" with makeup. i'm 42 years old and have some wrinkles under my eyes and some large pores, but who doesn't at my age? i found that this actually seemed to make my wrinkles appear deeper and i used it very sparingly. sorry philosophy ~ this one's just not worth it to me."

"i have always loved "the present", but the tube i purchased online in the fall had a very funky odor. i didn't open the tube until december, but i couldn't even use it, it smelled so bad. i had a really old tube of "the present" in my camping box, so i decided to finish that one off (it still smelled "normal".) by the way, the old tube was at least 2 years old and had gone thru many climate changes with the rest of my camping gear. well, i was running really low now and decided to call customer service to see if maybe they had changed the formulation or had reports of other problems. the customer service rep said that they didn't know of any problems, but that they would ship another new tube to me and to be sure to let them know if that one had the funky smell too. fortunately, it did not. i love the products and especially love the customer service. i'll be a philosophy girl for a long time..."

"even if you do not haVE FLAWLESS SKIN. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. IT LEAVES YOUR SKIN SO SMOOTH AND SOFT WITH THE LOOK OF A veil over my skin. the present smooths skin, fills in pores and helps with the oil thaT SEEMS TO CREAP UP ON MY FACE BY THE END OF THE DAY. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU WAIT THE 2 FULL MINUTES FOR THIS TO SET, AND DO NOT USE TOO MUCH, IT JUSY TAKES A LITTLE BIT. I USE MINERAL MAKEUP AND I LOVE THE THE FINISHED LOOK WHEN I USE THE PRESENT."

"I use a lot of philosophy products that are great, but this is not one. even after letting it dry, it made my foundation not glide over my skin like it normally does. it looked streaky and dry and made flaws more obvous because the makeup caked around them."

"I have been using "the present" for several years and have been very pleased with it; however, my fall 2009 order and the replacement that philosophy was kind enough to send me both have a very strange fragrance -- something between fish and rubber. prior to these orders, I noticed no fragrance at all. if not for the strange fragrance, I would have given it 5 stars."

"I wish that i could indicate that i was happy with this product, unfortunately, i can not. I found that it never completely "set" on my face and when I tried to apply liquid foundation over it my makeup looked blotchy and uneven. very distressing. my lines and pores did not look any better - in fact the effect was quite the opposite. certainly was not a present for me and i've been quite happy with all of my other philosophy products."

"i am a philosophy girl with makeup optional skin & have been for over 6 years. this is my "day off" makeup. I put this on after cleansing, treating & moisturizing and when it dries, it looks like someone has put a silk stocking on your face. it's also great to use before putting on the supernatural mineral makeup, makes the skin surface very smooth and the makeup goes on better. Love this product!!"

"I purchased this product a year ago, and love it!! I have oily (t-zone), aging (42+ yrs) skin that is also exposed to the florida sun, w/ large pores that easily clog. I'm a runner and 'au naturel' most of the time, wearing very little make-up, no foundation, and lots of moisturizer... this product provides a very nice matte finish that I just Loooovvveee!! Reason for 4 stars and not 5: be on the look-out for globbing and streaking as it's drying, because that isn't invisible! I just do a quick check in the mirror before i head out...simple and worth the final look! LOVE IT!!!"

"This product is my lifesaver. I can't stand the feeling of foundation/base on my skin and even tinted moisturizers don't much appeal to me (although the philosophy one I have is nice). i made a resolution when i turned 40 earlier this year, that i would make more of an effort with my appearance and wear makeup. i'm lucky with my skin and have never really needed makeup - and my husband prefers me without it. still, i have come to enjoy looking a little more pulled together.
This product is light and pleasant to wear and refines my skin in the same way foundation does. it is terrific for someone who's makeup routine consists of a little eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. 'the present' will be the only thing i use from here on out and has been the only product i have used on my face for about a year. love it!!"

clogs my pores to an extreme

"I have been a philosophy user for several years now and i must say this is probably my least-favorite product I have used to date. i would give every other philosophy product i've used four to five stars, so you can imagine my disappointment when i used this. from the look of other reviews it appears my experience is unique, so i'm guessing it has something to do with my skin type. i have very oily skin and my pores generally clog up a bit by the end of the day. however, it seems this product penetrates and then seals my pores so that the sebum that gets released throughout the day becomes trapped. the end result is completely disastrous. looking in the mirror at the end of the day after using this product, i can actually see the sebum buildup lodged in my pores - making them look huge, oily, and dirty. this is disgusting, but it looks like microscopic balls of wax are just stuck in there, and no amount of cleansing can get them out. i eventually have to squeeze them out, which is not only unpleasant, but makes my skin inflamed and my pores look huge for days to follow. i know it's this product because i've never had this problem in my life, and anytime i use it, this happens. anyway, the one-star rating is based on my experience, and i understand this product works very well for some. however, if you have oily skin, i would urge you to take caution."

"This is a lovely product if you're happy with a make-up free face. I use mineral makeup and it just won't stick to my face when I use this product! but, I often go make-up free and when I do, this is my go-to product. I wear it instead of my regular moisturizer and it gives my face a beautiful, smooth, matte finish.
if you're looking for a great moisturizer for under your make-up, I must recommend "divine illumination.""

"i love the present. I have been using it for about 6 weeks. I don't use it everyday, but on the days I do, i hardly need any foundation at all (i use mineral makeup). I still need concealer for under my eyes, but that is it. I love the matte, smooth feeling of my skin. this is my new favorite philosophy product!!"
