"i bought this for my husband last year for valentine's day. he is an executive chef, so choosing shower gels is always tricky as he has an extremely sensitive sense of smell. he loved it! we went through the whole bottle pretty quickly (i usually "ration" my gels - lol). i just really wish that the scent stayed on your skin like it used to. it's lovely that my shower experience smells divine, and it lingers in the air, but it was nice to have the scent stay with you all day. i do understand that some people might prefer not to have the scent linger so they can wear their usual frangrance after their shower. however, some days it was nice to decide not to fuss with a frangrance, and just smell like red velvet cake. i wish philosophy would come out with lotions to match the shower gels for those of us who want to smell like food....maybe a new diet plan ;)"

"i think this one smells a lot like chocolate covered cherries, or chocolate raspberry cake. it is really great with the sweet creamy frosting! i also love to wash my hair with this scent."

"I have only recently tried (real, not this gel) red velvet cake for the first time and it is a chocolate overload. this will be one of my rare reviews where i give a five-star rating despite the product name not really matching the fragrance. this doesn't smell at all like red velvet cake. what it does, however, smell like is a cherry tootsie pop in liquid form. real red velvet cake does not have any fruity ingredients whatsoever, so this might be a bit offputting for those of you that are used to the real thing. but the fragrance is outstanding and mouthwatering...cherry tootsie pops have always been one of my personal favorite candies. and you have to love the color...this is the most vividly red gel I think there is. and no, it doesn't stain your hair, skin, shower, etc.... ;)"
