hope in a jar
Posted: November 9, 2009
"This is by far the best moisturizer i have ever used. the cream itself rates 5 stars, but I give it 3 stars because of its packaging in a jar rather than in a tube or pump container. contents of a jar are unavoidably contaminated with bacteria from fingers/fingernails. i use a cotton swab to remove the cream and prevent contamination, but there are no instructions printed on the jar that warn about contamination and that give directions to avoid it."

Review 5 for hope in a jar

more like dog breath in a jar then hope
Posted: October 30, 2009
"I am afraid I cannot tell you if this moisturizer would worked well for my skin or not. Within minutes of applying it I was forced to wash it off. it smelled exactly like my dogs bad breath and it was simply too off putting for me to handle. that said, from what i felt in the time that i managed to leave it on, it was too greasy and heavy for my oily skin. However, it may have worked in the long run had i been able to handle the smell."

stink in a jar

"This moisturizer works great! I just cannot tolerate the smell. I wish philosophy had a fragrance free skin care line. too smelly to use, too expensive to throw away It is destined for a lonely existence in my bathroom drawer."

not the best for oily skin
Posted: October 22, 2009
"don't get me wrong, i love this moisturizer and will see the jar through to the end, but i think i should probably be using hope in a bottle. i have very oily skin and have difficulty finding a moisturizer that moisturizes without making me all greasy. this one does a great job, but my skin is a little (only a little!) oilier than I would like it to be. if your skin is only slightly to medium oily, this is a perfect moisturizer. if you have very oily skin, you might want to try a different one. and don't despair! as my aesthetician told me, its better to have oily skin than dry skin because your skin won't show the signs of aging as quickly. for that, i'll put up with a little shine!"

"well . . .didn't quite live up to the expectations based on all of the reviews i read prior to purchasing. the smell is odd and my boyfriend said it smelled like i was licked by a dog! that aside, the moisturizing affect is average and not worth the money."

dont judge a book by its cover
Posted: October 18, 2009
"this cream might have not the most pleasant scent, but it works wondersfor me. Before I tried it I was using Crème de la mer. inspite of the facts that it has the most wonerful scent and my friend is happily addicted to it, it did nothing for my skin and made it break out. please, dont change the scent, as it might change the qualities of the product. Thank you, philosophy"

hope came for me
Posted: October 17, 2009
"Ohhh i absolutelLy love this moisturizer. i have pretty oily skin in the summer then in the cooler weather months it's normal/dry/combo. I could never win when it comes to moisturizers that would satisfy my skin. this works perfectly. it doesn't dry my skin out or make it feel tight but keeps the oily parts matte all day. keeps my breakouts in control. and after using it for few days my skin started to get that nice healthy glow which my fair skin needs it. i add superbooster vitamin c in the morning and use help me at night. the smell is little weird but you get used to it and for the results you get from this you will definitely forget about it. i will keep buying this. philosophy don't ever stop making this!"

smell was too strong
Posted: September 29, 2009
"i received a sample of this product with a fragrance purchase. i vaguely remembered reviewers mentioning the smell. I tried it and it felt great, but the smell was so bad and strong I got a severe headache and felt sick to my stomach. THat's too bad b/c the product felt like it would do a great job and the texture was not greasy. Hopefully the scent will be improved in the future."
