Skin looks better than ever
Posted: August 28, 2009
"I have been using hope in a jar for a little over a month. i love it...my skin has never looked better. i had received a sample and at the time my skin was really dull looking, i now don't even need to wear a foundation because of the healthy glow. just a little blush and mascara and i'm out the door."

Best ever moisturizer
Posted: August 28, 2009
"I love this stuff. I have been using this product since 2005. I don't think it smells bad at all. I love the way it soaks into my skin right away, never leaving a greasy feeling. I have seen a huge difference in my skin tone. I have dry sensitive skin and this is the ticket. Keep up the good work. Don't change a thing about this cream."

good product, bad smell
Posted: August 21, 2009
"i usually try to judge products on their effectiveness and not their smell, but the reviewer who said this smells like a hot, wet band-aid hit the nail on the head. it is awful. i can notice the smell for up to an hour, but i have a really keen sense of smell. other than that, i really like the texture; it's like a mousse. it sinks right into my skin, and because of that, i think i end up using more than i need to. i have skin that is dry in spots, oily in others, sensitive, and acne-prone. i do get a bit oily sitll when i use this, but if it keeps my skin balanced, i will keep using it...even in spite of the smell. :)"

Review 24 for hope in a jar
Delivers what it pmises, smells odd
Posted: August 18, 2009
"I got this as a sample in my first philosophy purchase a few weeks ago. So this review is based on using this product for a short period of time:
1. Like other people here, I think it smells quite odd and I was very surprised by this. I'm not sure I can call it a bad smell, but it is strange. This was the very first thing I noticed about hope in a jar and my husband noticed it too as soon as I went to bed right after using it. I have a habit of wearing very light fragrances to bed, but the minute I laid down he said: "what are you wearing tonight? I don't like this one" - thinking it was a body splash). So, it doesn't smell good and it doesn't go unnoticed. The good news, though, is that it does fade away, but on my skin it takes a good 10 minutes. I wonder why Philosophy doesn't reformulate the product to have a better smell, since so many people seem to dislike it.
2. it has a very distinct and nice texture. I have combination skin and oily moisturizes make my skin too greasy. Hope in a jar slides easily in the first few seconds, it feels as if it's melting and releasing water into the skin at first contact. As it starts penetrating the skin, it changes to a more dense texture and at first it felt like my skin would feel greasy. But it didn't. It felt deeply hydrated and well moisturized. I could still feel it on the t-zone a few minutes later, but it wasn't greasy.
3. A little goes a long way. Due to its unique soufle texture, it spreads like magic. I had 2 sachet samples, which isn't much. They lasted approximately 2 weeks - using twice a day.
4. changes on the skin were noticeable. I went through the 2 samples and ran out a few days ago and now, a few days later, my skin looks a little dull and uneven. It DOES make a difference!!!
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars (and not 5) is because of how it smells. I can tolerate it, but my husband hates it, so this is keeping me from committing to this product right now - which is a shame because other than that it is absolutely fantastic and delivers what it promises. It is worth the price.
Philosophy: PLEASE (please!) make this smell better!! If it smelled like amazing grace, pure grace, etc, it would be unbeatable!!"

disappointing

"I was really excited to try this. It is light, and a good "drink of water" for your face...but unfortunately it made me break out a bit on my chin. I use it only on my forehead now. It also smells horrible!! I see practically everyone else loves it, though."

exactly as the title

"When visiting a very dear and old friend who just passed away at 94 years old in april, why her skin was so beautiful and not a wrinkle in sight, she explained to me that she has a secret. That secret was "Hope in a Jar" and she had been using it for many years and wouldn't go a day without it. You may not believe this story but it is 100% true and the next day I went out and purchased my first jar and have been seeing wonderful differences in my 50 year old face. I just love this product and my dear friend Amelia who told me about her secret."

had higher expectations!
Posted: July 23, 2009
"as a new philosophy customer, i decided to include a sample of hope in a jar with my very first order. from most of the rave reviews, i expected it to work wonders. unfortunately, i was disappointed. the smell threw me off a little (though it doesn't last long, there is a somewhat of an unpleasant scent) and i didn't like how it felt heavy on my face. it didn't leave my skin dry, but it just didn't work the way i wanted."

I'm hooked
Posted: July 10, 2009
"Let's start with some ugly truth - this stuff smells like a cheap bandaid. A hot cheap bandaid. it's foul. but I read the rave reviews, and i'd already bought a sample, so i gave it a shot.
in less than two weeks my dry patchy skin is completely gone. my skin is soft and smooth. my makeup wears more even.
while I can't figure out how a company that makes such delicious fragrances can put out a product that smells this awful, i am willing to overlook it. this is the best moisturizer i've ever tried. i've gone through olay, garnier, biore, even old fashioned thick cold cream... nothing came close to these results. this is the stuff, ladies. this is the stuff."

Outstanding (and no smell is *not* bad at all!)
Posted: July 10, 2009
"it truly is a "drink of water" for your face. no grease, no mess. trust me this jar will last you a *very* long time since literally you only need to *dab* your finger to get enough for your entire face. I rather like the smell, it's very organic. I think society is used to the chemicals and perfume masking what moisturizers are intended to do. I love this product, dries quickly and provides perfect balance of moisture (even for T-zones like me) throughout the day. makeup glides on beautifully. **try eye hope too it's outstanding! Great job philosophy - keep up the great work! :)"

"I love this moisterizer, i use a perscription acne medicine and i need to have a good oil-free mosisturizer and this is perfect. My skin never feels dry with this. Yes it does have weird smell, but a lot of philosophy products have a weird smell u just have to get used to it and then its fine."

"this truly is a good moisturizer for everyone. Your skin texture will improve over time. it does not leave a "greasy look", if you use sparingly. the smell is not horrid or disgusting and i have found that it dissipates quite quickly. i like that it is anti-oxidant rich with mild exfoliation. i have used it for quite a few years & will continue to use it. I feel it is helping my skin maintain a healthy, youthful appearance. the results of using this product daily makes this a best seller & favorite among many people."

smelly

"I really liked how this lotion went on and how it made my skin feel, but it has a weird, annoying smell. I fought the urge to wash it off, but have not re-applied. It is unfortunate because I really liked the lotion. The smell is mild, but nasty. I just could not recommend this to anyone."

great, but....

"I love the texture of this moisturizer. i also love how well it hydrates. My skin feels so smooth and hydrated even hours after i apply it. the only think i don't like and actually can't stand is the smell...its horrible!!! my 3 yr old daughter went to give me a hug goodnight after i applied it and she stopped dead in her tracks and said "mommy your face smells funny" i looked at my husband, astonished, and he said "well actualy i agree with her, just didnt want to hurt your feelings". PLEASE put even a mild, natural fragrance in this stuff. then it will be perfect!"

Amazing mouisturizer

"i have always watched the philosophy programs on QVC and have always wanted to try their products. my boyfriends cousin said that she ''swears by it,'' so i decided to give it a try and i love the results that i am seeing so far. one of my favorite tthings about it is that it just soaks right into your skin, i can wash my face then put this on and lay right down and not have to worry about all of it rubbing off onto my pillow! great line of products do not hesitate to buy any of it!"
