spf the problem?
|
|
Posted: October 20, 2009

"I'm 36 so needing a good moisturizer but also tend towards oily skin. this moisturizer feels heavy on my face and doesn't feel like it absorbs well. that may be a plus if you have dry skin but for me it isn't very good. i think it might be the spf b/c it has a very strong "sunscreen" type odor. i will try the original to see if it absorbs well without feeling heavy."

hope in a jar SPF20

"I adore the original Hope in a Jar, tried the spf20 for sun protection and found it to be very greasy, did not absorb, felt like a film on my face and made it difficult to keep makeup on, all in all I will stick with the original, that stuff absolutely ROCKS!!!!!! will continue to use the skin line forever, took me this long to find a system that works for my sensitive, prone to breakouts, combo skin!!!!!!!"

"I bought this jar and on the first day I recieved it the constistency was whipped and looked like the original hope in a jar within 3 days or so of purchase there was oil at the top of the jar and the first or second time this happened the product would mix in if shaken or stirred. but after about a week it would no longer mix in and it was oily and yellow oil on the top. I just recieved a replacement today from QVC hope I had a lemon...."

best spf product......so far

"i have never liked the smell or feel of sunscreen on my face, even though i know it is an absolute necessity. this is one of the best i've found. i still feel a little bit oilier than i need, but there's no weird smelll like i get with other brands. i really prefer hope in a bottle in the summer, and would really LOVE it if you would come out with a spf version of that, i think it would be perfect for me. but this is a good second!"

pERFECT FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

"I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. i HAVE ROSACEA OF THE SKIN AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO LOCATE PRODUCTS, PARTICULARLY SUNSCREENS, THAT DO NOT INFLAME THE SKIN. sINCE I STARTED USING THIS PRODUCT, i HAVE HAD NO DIFFICULTY WITH THE SKIN IRRITATION i HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH MANY OTHERS, INCLUDING THOSE THAT SAY THEY ARE EXCLUSIVELY FORMULATED FOR SKIN ROSACEA. YOU ONLY NEED TO USE A SMALL AMOUNT. lET IT ABSORB BEFORE APPLYING ANY FURTHER MAKE-UP FOR BEST RESULTS. i LIVE IN SOUTH fLORIDA WHERE IT IS VERY HUMID AND FOUND THIS PRODUCT HELD UP WELL ACROSS THE DAY. I WISH THIS CAME IN A TRAVEL SIZE."

hij spf 20 - I love this stuff!

"Wow - I am amazed to read the other reviews! Yes, the consistency is different from the orig, but mine never has seperated. I have an oily t-zone and use less in that area, but otherwise this stuff does the trick for me. Maybe it's the dry climate i live in, but i dislike heavy, oily moisturizers - that's why i like this product, plus the spf is what i want."

pleasantly surprised

"I ordered this product as part of a kit. Then i read the reviews and was scared. i have to say i was very pleasantly surprised. My product does not separate as some have reported. the texture is different than the original; and the first couple of times i used it my skin did feel a little oilier than normal. I have now been using it for over a month and i really do like it. i even use it at night over the help me so that i did not have to buy the original hiaj separately as it was not part of my kit. i consider my skin to be combination and slightly on the oily side. this product works well for me and gives me the SPF that i was looking for. The only reason i only gave it a 4, is that i really liked the texture of the orginal hiaj better. i will keep using this for the SPF. i am a new philosophy girl and i am hooked!!!!"

"this made my skin look even greasier than the original! one day with this product on made me run screaming to the department store makeup counters (on my way home) looking for an effective mask to deep cleanse my pores and dry them back out. never again!"

"I was very excited to try this product. I love the original hope in a jar, and thought it would only be better with the SPF added. Unfortunately, the product separates and is very oily. I keep it in my refridgerator to keep it from completely separating and becoming very oily. Will definitely return to the original when my jar is gone."

slightly frustrated

"I have mixed feelings about this product. I bought it because i loved the original hiaj and wanted an spf factor. The consistency is totally different (much oilier - I chalked that up to the Spf factor) there is a slight odor which goes away once it is dry. it does separate between uses ( I keep a stir stick near by). I don't mind it once it is on my face. I am seeing an increase in my normal breakout areas (but this is par for the course whenever I change products). Jury is still out on whether I will go back to the original for good."

exceeded my expectations!

"I was very hesitant to try Hiaj spf 20. but once I did, I was glad I finally tried it. It is a little bit thicker than HIAJ, but it absorbs nicely. I used it while on a sunny vacation & did not get sunburned at all. In fact, because I hate most sunscreens so much (consistency, smell, etc), I put this on my neck, shoulders & decollate too. it did separate a little in the extreme heat, but I think any lotion or sunscreen would have done the same. I'm not 100% sold on using this every day, but I will try it this summer & come fall I'll make that every day decision."
